Kirkus Media

Kirkus Media is searching for experienced book reviewers of Spanish and English-language titles. They have plenty of work to go around, they review or edit nearly 10,000 books per year. The company may also occasionally hire for copy editors and editors as well.

Reviews are normally about 350 words and are due two weeks after the book is assigned. Kirkus Media  Media reviews all genres and books of all different lengths.

Online Book Club

This is another book review site that will pay you to read books and draft an honest review. For your first review with Online Book Club, you will get the book for free. After that trial period, you will then begin to be paid for your book reviews.

Any book you do a review on will also be free. If you didn’t like the book that’s ok, the company isn’t looking for a positive review just an honest one. Most payouts from the Online Book Club currently range between $5-$60 per review.

Booklist

Booklist publishes reviews for the American Library Association to help school and public library workers in deciding which books to purchase. Reviews are short and impactful, only 100-175 words. As an added bonus, they'll publish your name in the byline and add your bio to their Reviewers page on their website.

This publication pays $15 per review once it is published. If your review is rejected, they'll pay you $5.  Before applying, you should familiarize yourself with their expectations, published reviews, and writing style.

If you are interested in becoming a reviewer with Book Browse, you will have to submit quality sample reviews, and they must be at least 300 words. BookBrowse reviews adult fiction, nonfiction, and books for young adults. With each book you work on reviewers also write a “beyond the book” article. Reviewers write about one review per month.

Most Book Browser reviewers are based in the United States, but the company is open to employing people from outside the US. It’s unlikely that publishers can send print copies to a house outside of the USA though so you would have to be comfortable with an ebook instead of a physical copy.

Women's Review of Books

Women’s Review of Books pays $100 for each review assigned and published. Women’s review of books is strict on who they allow to review their content and do not assign book reviews to relatives, friends, colleagues, or enemies of the book's author.

The US Review of Books

Reviews for US Review of Books must be edited in Chicago style. Reviews are due 2-3 weeks after assigning. The sooner you know which title you would like to review the better. Normal reviews with US Review of Books are anywhere from 250-300 words. Reviewers are paid monthly for every review done the previous month.

Net Galley is a publishing company that needs people to read books online. Whether you are a librarian, bookseller, educator, reviewer, or blogger, you can get started with the company and start earning money as a paid book reviewer.
